Mission Statement
The Mission of the Greater Santa Barbara Lodging Association is to unify and enrich lodging and tourism affiliates through information, education and advocacy.

ENHANCE INFORMATION EXCHANGE

1. Conduct seminars

  • Employment/recruiting
  • Motivational
  • Internet & web site development
  • Telephone systems and training
  • Telemarketing
  • Housekeeping
  • Local issues forum

2. General Membership meetings
3. Write a weekly New Press Column
4. Create Industry Technology Advisory Board to meet future opportunities
5. Create Shared Resources and co-op buying opportunities for members
6. Encourage and facilitate communication and networking

CREATE EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR COMMUNITY AND MEMBERS

1. Actively participate with Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) Hotel, Restaurant, Culinary (HRC) program - course development and class participation
2. Conduct Job fairs at schools
3. Educate high school and college students about "service vs. servitude"

PROVIDE ADVOCACY FOR MEMBERS

1. Maintain positive relationship with City and County governments
2. Increase cohesiveness of other local organizations related to, or of importance to, GSBLA
3. Identify issues of importance to members and mobilize efforts to support

INCREASE MEMBERSHIP

1. Increase membership in South Coast region

INCREASE MEMBER PARTICIPATION

1. Mobilize the general membership to work on specific GSBLA projects
2. Increase attendance at general membership meetings
3. Assist in planning social events for membership

BROADEN PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORTS

1. Create a community benefit program through advertising and direct mail
2. Improve GSBLA credibility in the community
3. Communicate more frequently with general membership
